Growing to give
Richard Allen, local horticulturist and landscaper, and co-founder of the Bangalow Lion Hearts has our organisation’s mission always in mind. He has turned part of the Clover Hill Park into a vegetable garden to feed those in need. We strive to find new strategies for dealing with people in need, beyond our small community.
Richard grows vegetables to be used for our cook ups, to give to some of our volunteer cooks to use in the meals they're making, and to donate further afield; to homeless shelters, women's refuges, soup kitchens, the Bangalow CWA who use them in pickles and relishes and then sell them to make money for charitable donations, and other local community groups. His impact on each and every community group he grows and donates to makes a positive impact for the greater good. Contact Richard if you would like to donate in the form of sponsorship of the garden, or you would like to get your hands dirty and donate some hours working under his instruction.
